SILVER BAY, Minn. – More than 400 workers at Cliffs Natural Resources’ Northshore Mining are back to work this week, ahead of schedule.
Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar confirmed the news Thursday, after she toured the facility in Silver Bay and met with workers. She said this is a good start, but there’s more work to be done.
“Our workers can compete on an even playing field with workers at foreign companies. They can compete anywhere, but not if it’s unfair and not if they’re sending over steel that’s subsidized or steel that they should not be sending over,” Klobuchar said. “We cannot declare success until every worker gets their job back.”
